Repair operation for the aorta performed on 14 October 1999, surgeons
pleased with operation of the heart.

At 1.00pm on 16 October 1999 she was still being ventilated although
they are hopeful to have her off it by the end of today. There is
still a query about her spleen (and whether there is one), more
investigations will follow once she is out of intensive care.

The attached photo was taken at about 48 hours.

I am very stiff and sore and will be very glad to be able to cuddle
and feed the baby myself. Rohan is fine, fascinated with all the
equipment. Sarah, Victoria and Edward are doing well, enjoying
being treated as special and being ably cared for by our Australian
surrogate grandmother, Pauline.
